Why Renovation Timing Matters More Than You Think?
Renovating your home is a major investment, yet many people overlook the importance of choosing the right day to begin.
Not every so-called “good” date guarantees prosperity—but starting renovation on a bad date almost always brings trouble. Over the years, I’ve seen countless homeowners begin based on convenience or just by glancing at the Tong Sheng (通胜), without consulting deeper Feng Shui principles.
The result? Delays, poor workmanship, contractor problems, or even unexpected interference from management or authorities. In more serious cases, problems don’t end with the renovation—they continue appearing afterward due to poor timing and quality issues.
Choosing an auspicious date is not as simple as “pick any lucky day.” We must evaluate the annual, monthly, and daily Qi flow, cross-check it with your property’s sitting and facing direction, and consider the nature of the renovation work itself.
A well-chosen renovation date won’t magically bring wealth, but it can absolutely help you avoid unnecessary setbacks, reduce friction, and lead to a smoother, more successful renovation experience.
What I Need to Provide You an Accurate Date
To perform a proper date selection, I’ll need two key pieces of information:
- Your property’s facing and sitting direction
- The type of renovation work you plan to carry out
As mentioned earlier, many people still run into problems even after following the Tong Sheng calendar. That’s because they overlook a crucial detail—every direction carries different Qi (energy) patterns each year and month. Without knowing your property’s orientation and the nature of the work, it’s impossible to avoid clashing with inauspicious energies.
Providing this info ensures the selected date truly supports your specific situation.
I Don’t Accept Every Date Selection Job
If I find that your property’s direction clashes with strong negative Qi for the entire year, I won’t take the job—or your money. There’s no point in forcing a renovation when the timing is clearly unfavorable.
In that case, I’d rather you find another master, or simply choose a date from the Tong Shu (通书) if you still prefer to proceed on your own terms.
However, if I see that there are a few suitable windows that align with your schedule, then I’ll proceed. You’ll make payment, and I’ll calculate the most favorable dates within your desired starting period.
I only provide date selection when I know there’s truly a good timing available to work with.
